    In this excellent new book, Gary Michuta provides a detailed explanation of the origin of the Old Testament and why Catholic and Protestant Bibles are different. In it, he shows the indispensable role played by the Catholic Church in gathering and declaring which books belong to 5/5(5).   To summarize – the Catholic Church put together the different books of the Bible, while guided by the Holy Spirit. This list was not challenged until Martin Luther threw out 7 books. Unfortunately, many Christians uncritically accept the lie that the Catholic Church added 7 books, which doesn’t square with the evidence.

      I was looking for Gary Michuta’s books, “Why Catholic Bibles Are Bigger” & “The Case for the Deuterocanon.” But I couldn’t remember his name or the name of his books! So, I went on Amazon, and I just decided to type “Old Testament canon” in its search engine. There were a lot of books on the page. When I went on the second page, there was a book called, “Why Protestant Bibles. The Jewish Bible contains 24 books. They have exactly the same books that the Protestant Bible has, but some are combined (the minor prophets, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra/Nehemiah). They also order their books differently. The first book is Genesis, the last book .

They are Tobit, Judith, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus and Baruch. The Roman Catholic Bible also has additions to the books of Esther and Daniel.

They are interspersed throughout the Old Testament.
